Wind turbines and air blowers
Hola,
I would like to connect an air blower (858 W; VAC: 115/230; Hz: 50/60; Amps 12.0/6.0) to a wind turbine that can supply enough power. I only need the blower to work when there are windy conditions. I have looked at the Whisper H80 with rated power 860 W. Bergey's XL.1 GridTek seems to be in development still. I would like to know what type of equipment set up I need and would appreciate as much detail as possible. Which are the blower specs (VAC, Hz, Amps) that are more suitable to the available wind turbines? Thank you. Salvador (Canada)

small wind systems charge batteries in DC current.  Inverters draw power from the batteries and convert it to AC current for supplying your loads.  As such, you would need a small battery bank, and (probably a 1000w)inverter to drive your air blower.  As your blower is a motor, you would need a sine wave inverter in order to not overstress your motor.  A small wind system (or solar panel (s))could keep your batteries full, and I am sure that you could get a relay to turn your blower on when the wind is blowing, but it seems to me that this is overcomplicating a simple system.  Maybe there is a better way?

Salvador, have you considered changing your AC motor to a 12/24/48 Volt, DC equivalent model? Just match RPM's and HP. Then you can use you batteries and turbine and skip the inverter.
