240 Volt system options
My friend has an off-grid solar system with 1KW of panels and 24V battery bank and we are planning to add 120VAC service to Cabin #2 and Cabin #3 at the remote ranch. Cabin #1 presently has 24VDC service and would be converted to 120VAC. All three cabins are located approximately 550 feet from the solar panels.

One option is to use large 120 VAC cable pairs to each cabin, sourced by separate inverters.

Another option being considered is to run 240 AC to a step-down transformer at the cabin complex.

What are the options to use 240VAC from a stacked pair of inverters to the the cabins, which use 120VAC?

What are the trade-offs between an auto-transformer versus a step-down isolation transformer at the cabin complex?

Do I understand correctly that an inverter will not go into the "Idle" or "Sleep" mode when a transformer is connected to the output?

Thanks for the advice,

Russ
